Page 1: Introduction

Purpose: This survey is fundamentally designed to examine the question “What works for leadership in higher education?” It aims to capture information related to leadership within the Higher Education, Tertiary, and Research sector (HE used as shorthand). For the purpose of this survey a broad definition of leader/leadership is adopted in recognition of the diversity of roles and relationships across the HE sector. The outputs of the survey will inform our collective understanding about leadership in this sector and will be used to provide clarity to invest in leaders, support leadership development, recognise effective practice (over time), plan leadership structures and capacity, and grow talent for tomorrow. They will also be available to support leadership research and organisational development.

This survey is aimed at leaders at all levels, in all areas, in a formal or informal role. The survey will explore questions related to you as a leader, how you are led by others, and your views on leadership in your organisation and across the sector.

Time commitment – based on user testing it is estimated that this survey will take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete.
